Some items to think about, and important items to consider:

  • What is your pools BTU requirement?

  • Weather temperatures for your area should be considered to determine the type of system you will need?
  • Utility costs, gas verses electric for your area. I am a certified energy auditor, let me add some guidance.

Key factor is to make sure you purchase equipment large enough to manage your volume of water and the ability to heat your pool water to your desired temperature.

Swimming Pool Gas Heaters

With improvements around technology there are options to heat up your pool fast and efficiently, there is nothing better than being able to enjoy your pool for an early morning exercise lap session or a late night swim. Swimming pool gas heaters are great for in-ground swimming pools or spas in every climate. Gas heaters are a great choice allowing you to swim all year, they run on either propane or natural gas.

Swimming Pool Heater Pumps

Heat Pumps are eco-friendly, energy-efficient heating option to quickly heat your water allowing your family to enjoy your pool from early spring to late fall by efficiently heating your pool water. Heat Pumps do not use any fossil fuel which makes them cost-effective; they transfer heat from the air to the pool or spa, saving up to 80% in energy costs compared to gas-fired heaters. Heat Pumps are not ideal for every climate, they work best for areas where the temperature rarely drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit (except in winter), and they are a great choice to extend your swim season.

Swimming Pool Solar Heating System

Solar Panels can significantly reduce swimming pool heating, solar pool heating is the most cost-effective use of solar energy in many climates. The efficiency and design of a solar pool heating system depends on how much of the sun’s energy reaches your roof surface. A solar system that is properly sized will effectively raise your swimming pool water temperature between 15 to 20 degrees. Solar pool heating systems are best suited for residential swimming pools, but can be easily designed for commercial community pools. When considering a swimming pool solar heating system, the following information is needed:

  • Pool size
  • Average regional temperatures
  • Desired pool temperature
  • Your location and pool placement (morning sun or evening sun exposure)
  • Roof tilt and size(morning sun or evening sun exposure)

Give us a call and we can perform a solar site analysis.
